Each person; place and task (Spiritual reflection)

Updated: Jan 6

God has a purpose and a plan for each person to do in his kingdom. He gifts each person to be a part of the body of the church and take part in the salvation of the world! Each person connects with family, friends, community members from various organisations in a huge variety of ways to encourage them to join in salvation. No other person connects in the same way that you do. When there is a disconnection, it is like a jigsaw puzzle with a piece missing. How sad it must be for God to see the puzzle with missing pieces and yet the puzzle is still perfect and glorious to behold. There is so much mystery in God's creation, redemption and his gracious free will for his created individuals whom he loves perfectly and who are all different. How do we react to all this?

We are called to surrender to God and live our life by being who he called us to be; a great mum or dad, a loving spouse and a talented worker in the community of church, school, workplace and wherever we are connected to others. Ask God to help you to be your true self in Jesus and for the Holy Spirit to empower you to complete the work God wrote for you in this life.

In Matthew 25:14 - 18 a master gave responsibility to his three servants while he was away. He gave finance to each servant in accordance with their position and role knowing their capabilities. The servant with $5,000 made $ 5,000 more. The servant with $3,000 made $3,000 more, but the servant he gave $1,000 kept the money buried for safe keeping. He didn't use his talent at all to work for the master. The first two the master praised highly. The third servant though received the masters anger and he was sent away. He was given the sack!

God calls us to trust expectantly, love extravagantly and serve him thankfully! We submit to the call of God and surrender our life to serving him and in doing so are showered with blessings extending into eternity. God is patient and kind and his mercy never ends. However, if we turn our back on him and go our own way he will respect our choice to live our life and eternity without him. How sad for those who make that poor choice!

Four treasures to think about:

1. God has a plan for us which is revealed like the rising son at dawn - a little at a time until all is revealed!

2. The more teachable we are, the more mature we will become. God inspires us to grow to maturity in him!

3. Love inspires trust, which brings obedience to God.

4. Faith is expressed in action as we learn and practice what we have been taught to value through God's word in all our relationships. God created all people to be in community. Relationships are the key to all of life! Jesus answered the young lawyer's question about what are the most important commandments. Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind. The second is like it. Love your neighbour as you love yourself".
